Mordian

Mordian is a tidally locked hive world whose population is concentrated on the hemisphere of permanent night; the other face is baked. A tidally locked planet rotates at the same rate as it orbits, so that one hemisphere always faces its sun and the other always faces away. The inhabitants live in hive cities on the dark side.

The Tetrarchy, the planet’s governing body, rations all resources. The Iron Guard, Mordian’s armed forces, maintains order and prevents conflict between the hives. Chaos has attacked the night side on more than one occasion. These attacks include an invasion carried out through summoning, the Stygius war, and a later rupture of the Webway, the network of extradimensional passages that runs beneath realspace.

Discipline is central to Mordian society. The combination of strict rationing, a military organisation charged with internal order, and repeated incursions by Chaos defines the planet’s standing within the Imperium.
