Saim-Hann
Saim-Hann, known as the Wild Host, is an Asuryani craftworld whose Wild Rider clans ride to war on jetbikes. A craftworld is one of the vast world-ships on which the Asuryani, or Eldar, have lived since the Fall, and Saim-Hann is counted among the largest and most populous of them, regarded by other craftworlds as half-feral for the licence it grants its warriors.
Saim-Hann is recorded as one of the first craftworlds to flee into the void before the psychic birth of Slaanesh consumed the old Eldar empire, a catastrophe remembered among the Asuryani as the Fall. That early departure shaped its later character: cut off sooner from the rigid philosophies that came to govern craftworlds such as Ulthwé and Alaitoc, Saim-Hann developed a looser, clan-based society in which many Asuryani never formally commit to a single Path. Its people maintain closer ties than most craftworlds to the Exodites, the Eldar who settled maiden worlds rather than take to the stars, and this contact reinforced a warrior culture built around speed and personal daring rather than collective restraint.
Society on Saim-Hann is organised into Wild Rider clans, each led by its own nobles and free to pursue feuds, raids, or wars largely at its own discretion, subject only loosely to the craftworld’s Warlock Council. This autonomy, together with a reliance on jetbike hosts rather than the slower, more disciplined formations favoured elsewhere, is why other Asuryani – notably the severe seers of Ulthwé and the secretive rangers of Alaitoc – regard Saim-Hann’s warriors as half-feral. The comparison is sometimes drawn with the White Scars of the Adeptus Astartes, another warrior culture built around mounted speed, though the two have no recorded alliance.
Saim-Hann’s Wild Riders have ridden to war across many of the same conflicts that have drawn in other craftworlds, answering Ork incursions, Chaos raids, and the depredations of Hive Fleet splinters wherever their augur seers judge intervention necessary, including engagements contemporary with the Damocles Gulf Crusade against the Tau Empire and the Imperium. Farseer Taldeer of Saim-Hann is remembered as one of the craftworld’s most capable seers, leading warhosts far from home in defence of Asuryani interests during the late 41st millennium; she is recorded as having led a warhost against the Space Wolves of the Adeptus Astartes in a clash over a webway gate, dying at their hands in a rare, direct confrontation between craftworld and Space Marine Chapter. In the era following the Fall of Cadia, elements of Saim-Hann, like other craftworlds, have been drawn toward the Ynnari and the doctrine of a reawakened Ynnead, without abandoning the Wild Host’s older loyalties to its own Warlock Council and clan chiefs.
