Tallarn System

The Tallarn System, in the Segmentum Tempestus, is a desert system whose principal world is Imperial shorthand for the largest tank war in human history. The world, Tallarn, was an agri-world, a planet given over to agricultural production, before the conflict that gave it that reputation.

The Iron Warriors bombarded Tallarn with virus weapons and then had to fight the survivors, who resisted in sealed armour. The armoured campaign was fought for a warp gate beneath the sand, not for the surface itself. The tribes living in the tunnels there still supply the Tallarn Desert Raiders. Biel-Tan later assisted in burying the Cursus of Alganar a second time.

The system remains significant as the site of that armoured campaign, and as the origin of the Desert Raiders, who continue to be recruited from its tunnel tribes. Unofficial summaries place the system in the Segmentum Tempestus and do not relocate it to the Eye of Terror.
