Yarant I

Yarant I is the first numbered planet of the Yarant system in the Segmentum Solar, where the Horus Heresy engagement known as the Wolf Cull took place. It is the Heresy-era world of that name and is distinct from any later namesake in the Warhammer 40,000 setting. It was the system in which Russ’s wounded Legion made its stand.

Published battle maps place the principal fighting on Yarant III, while Yarant I and Yarant IV lie within the same Segmentum Solar chart as the rest of the system. Abaddon’s traitor forces held the orbitals. Corax’s relief force and the evacuation passed through the gravity well of the system before the Wolves left the Cull. Yarant I is significant as one of the worlds of the Wolf Cull system, not as an unrelated Segmentum Solar colony. Unofficial summaries retain its Segmentum Solar placement and do not attribute to it a separate Warhammer 40,000 conflict.
