Armour of Contempt campaign
The Armour of Contempt campaign saw Imperial forces liberate Gereon from Archenemy occupation during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. It followed the covert insertion of a Tanith First-and-Only cell under Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt, whose extraction of the resistance leadership and the Blood Pact defector Mabbon Etogaur had furnished the Crusade high command with intelligence judged sufficient to justify a full invasion of the world. Warmaster Macaroth committed a substantial Astra Militarum expeditionary force to the operation, with the Tanith First-and-Only again serving among the spearhead regiments alongside massed Guard formations. The invasion pitted Imperial troops against entrenched Occupation garrisons and Blood Pact units defending a world whose atmosphere and terrain had been deliberately corrupted during years of Archenemy rule, compelling attacking forces to fight amid toxic environmental conditions imposed by the occupiers. The campaign marked a shift from the clandestine resistance warfare of the earlier Gereon operations to open, large-scale conflict, and it restored the world to Imperial control as part of the broader prosecution of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.
