Aurora crisis on Demerium
The Aurora crisis was fought on the Necron tomb world of Demerium in the 42nd millennium, during the seventh day of the Recidious campaign. No narrower year is recorded. Demerium is a cemetery moon of Avarax, in the Recidious system within the Bastior sub-sector. Thousand Sons under the sorcerer Imurah contested Project Aurora, a set of obelisks and an energy field over a central obelisk. Marneus Calgar was not present on the jungle world Kadaku, where Demetrian Titus was recovered; Calgar ordered that Titus undergo the Rubicon Primaris, judging it the only way he would survive, and authorised his reinstatement. Before the two could meet, Roboute Guilliman summoned Calgar elsewhere. Calgar returned to the Recidious system some days later, after a message from Titus, arriving at Demerium with his Victrix Guard and reinforcements from the 1st and 3rd Companies; he saved Titus and members of the 2nd Company who were defending the company banner. Calgar approved a plan, based on a theory of Gadriel that Titus supported, to invert the smaller Project Aurora obelisks and so lower the field over the central one; he fought alongside the 2nd Company while other teams carried this out. When the last obelisk was inverted, Imurah fled through a tear in reality, and Calgar followed with Titus and his squad. Inside, Calgar was trapped fighting illusions, and Titus freed him by repeating something Calgar had told him on Talassar. Calgar, Titus, and the squad then fought Imurah, who died when Titus destroyed a fragment of the power source. Aboard the battle barge Resilient, Calgar gave Titus the Laurels of Victory and told him he would join a mission away from the 2nd Company that a Chaplain had recommended, before leaving on his ship with Titus.
