Battle for Traitor’s Gorge

The Battle for Traitor’s Gorge was fought on Rynn’s World in late M41, about six months after the planet was declared liberated from Waaagh! Snagrod. The gorge lies in the Jaden Mountains, where remaining Ork warbands had taken refuge and were raiding the war-torn population. No narrower year than the aftermath of the 988–991.M41 invasion is recorded. Chapter Master Pedro Kantor directed the campaign to eradicate those warbands and engaged them with his remaining battle-brothers in cave-to-cave fighting. The attacks united the disparate Ork groups in the mountains, and the Crimson Fists task force, only about two dozen strong, came under sustained attack in Traitor’s Gorge from every Ork in the area. With the Chapter’s Thunderhawks lost or damaged in earlier fighting, evacuation and air support were impossible. The Crimson Fists fought clear of the gorge’s confines and sought higher ground, but became surrounded; soon only Kantor remained unwounded. Eldorath Starbane then led a small contingent of Rangers from Craftworld Alaitoc onto the ridges around the gorge and assailed the Orks with longrifles. The intervention allowed the Crimson Fists to turn the fight and force the Orks to flee. The Ork warbands in the Jaden Mountains were shattered after the victory.
