Pedro Kantor

Chapter Master of the Crimson Fists, Praetor Encarmine

Also known as Praetor Encarmine, Lord Hellblade, Chapter Master Kantor

Homeworld: Rynn's World

Pedro Kantor is the 29th Chapter Master of the Crimson Fists, a Second Founding successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists. Rynn’s World, an agri-world in the Loki Sector of the Segmentum Tempestus, is his home world. He has also been titled Lord Hellblade, and after the Indomitus Crusade’s relief of Rynn’s World Roboute Guilliman named him Praetor Encarmine and charged him with the protection and fortification of the Loki Sector. His wargear includes a power fist and Dorn’s Arrow, a storm bolter of the Chapter named for Rogal Dorn.

The earliest record of Kantor is the Battle of Melchitt Sound, when as a Sergeant he led a boarding party that disabled the Ork Kill Kroozer Da Growla, allowing the strike cruiser The Crusader to scatter the Ork fleet. He rose beside Captain Alessio Cortez through campaigns including Steel Cross, the defence of Fortress Maladon and the Kardian Campaign, and served as Captain of the 4th Company before becoming Chapter Master in 900.M41.

In 988–991.M41, after the Crimson Fists’ reverse on neighbouring Badlanding under Captain Drakken, Snagrod the Arch-Arsonist of Charadon invaded Rynn’s World. A malfunctioning surface-to-space missile destroyed the fortress-monastery Arx Tyrannus and most of the Chapter with it. Kantor, surveying the outer defences when the arsenal exploded, gathered sixteen survivors including Cortez, reached New Rynn City on the tenth day, and held that capital through an eighteen-month siege. When Imperial relief under Lord Admiral Galtaire arrived, he led the recapture of the primary spaceport, fought Urzog Mag Kull and Snagrod in the fighting there, and later directed the campaign that shattered the remaining Ork warbands in the Jaden Mountains at Traitor’s Gorge, where Rangers of Craftworld Alaitoc under Eldorath Starbane intervened on the Crimson Fists’ behalf. Cortez and Chief Librarian Delevan Deguerro were sent to Terra to argue that the Chapter remained viable; within a decade Kantor had rebuilt it to nearly five companies.

When the Great Rift opened, daemons under the Daemon Prince Rhaxor again besieged Rynn’s World. Kantor led three spearheads in its defence until Guilliman’s Indomitus Crusade scattered the host and delivered Primaris reinforcements. He later took five Crimson Fists companies to Vigilus for the War of Beasts, served on the Vigilus Senate with Marneus Calgar against the Genestealer Cult of the Pauper Princes at the Hyperia–Dirkden Fortwall, and was left in charge of the planet’s defence when Calgar departed to confront Abaddon the Despoiler. He remains Chapter Master in the Era Indomitus.
