Battle of Gyros-Thravian
The Battle of Gyros-Thravian was fought on the world of Gyros-Thravian late in the Great Crusade; no year is recorded for the battle. The Ork forces were led by the warboss Gharkul Blackfang. Three Space Marine Legions took part: the Imperial Fists under Rogal Dorn, the Luna Wolves under Horus, and the Death Guard under Mortarion. The three Legions were brought near to defeat. The Emperor arrived aboard the barge Bucephelus with one thousand Custodians, killed Blackfang on his Gargant, and the Custodians killed over 100,000 Orks for the loss of three of their own, whose names were engraved upon the Emperor’s armour.
