Battle of the Ophelia System

The Battle of the Ophelia System was fought early in the Indomitus Crusade in the Ophelia System, seat of the Convent Sanctorum on Ophelia VII. The Greater Daemon known as the Tyrant of Blueflame had enslaved Ophelia after the Thirteenth Black Crusade and escaped when the Indomitus Crusade freed it. When the Black Templars that Roboute Guilliman had stationed on Ophelia VII under Marshal Armond Montfort were drawn away by events on San Leor, the Tyrant returned on Ophelia IV and began a warp ritual to open the way for a second mass attack on Ophelia VII, this time with Alpha Legion and cultist allies. The Tyrant’s forces were again defeated. Saint Celestine, Inquisitor Katarinya Greyfax and the Custodian Longinus, who had been guarding Ecclesiarch Decius XXIII during his attempt to repeal the Decree Passive, fought on Ophelia VII. The Tyrant then revealed his plan to use Celestine as a vessel through which to manifest in realspace; as she became possessed, Longinus killed her, and she was instantly reborn. The corruption behind the affair was traced to the Ecclesiarch himself, whom Celestine later slew. Ophelia VII’s next recorded threat came from the Night Lords warlord Kol Rakhul.
