Ophelia VII

Ophelia VII is a cardinal world of the Imperium of Man, ranked second only to Terra in ecclesiastical seniority and seat of the Convent Sanctorum. It hosts the Synod Ministra, the ruling council of the Ecclesiarchy, and its fortress-convent is the seat from which the Abbess Sanctorum, Morvenn Vahl, exercises authority over the Adepta Sororitas, the order known to the wider Imperium as the Battle Sisters.

The world entered the Imperium’s records during the Great Crusade, in the era of the Emperor, and its ecclesiastical standing grew across the following millennia. The Ecclesiarch Benedin IV later transferred the seat of the Adeptus Ministorum from Terra to Ophelia VII, a relocation that endured for three centuries and left the world crowned with cathedrals raised to mark its status; Greigor XI subsequently returned the seat to Terra, leaving Ophelia VII its ecclesiastical monuments and its rank as premier cardinal world.

In the era following the opening of the Great Rift, Ophelia VII passed from ceremonial precedence to active siege. Daemonic incursion and, separately, an assault by the Night Lords Traitor Legion each tested its defensive walls, and a subsequent daemon occupation of the world was broken only by relief forces mustered during the Indomitus Crusade, binding Ophelia VII into the timeline of that campaign alongside the wider defence of the Imperium Sanctus.

In the present era the Adepta Sororitas deliberately divides its strength between Ophelia VII and Terra, an arrangement that denies any single commander sole custody of the order and binds the two worlds together as twin seats of Sororitas authority. Ophelia VII therefore stands as contemporary and counterpart to Terra itself, its history entwined with the Ecclesiarchy, the Adeptus Ministorum, and the Adepta Sororitas as an institution, and its present garrison a direct legacy of the Indomitus-era relief that reclaimed it.
