Cleansing of Keffia

In the late 920s.M41 Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Amberley Vail was assigned to finish the cleansing of a genestealer cult on the agri-world of Keffia. The cult’s open military strength had already been broken by Imperial Guard forces, among them the Valhallan 12th Field Artillery with which Commissar Ciaphas Cain then served, and what remained was the slower work of rooting out the survivors. Vail’s arrival was delayed by an earlier assignment on the space hulk Dolorous Tidings. By the time she reached Keffia, Cain and his unit were already en route to Perlia, so the two did not meet on the agri-world. She took over from the Guard the task of rooting out the last traces of the infestation. The cleansing of Keffia stands as one of Vail’s earliest attested field actions in the Cain record: an Ordo Xenos mopping-up after a Guard victory, conducted without the later partnership that would begin on Gravalax.
