Amberley Vail

Amberley Vail is an Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos who spent a career editing Ciaphas Cain's memoirs around the classified parts, which is most of them. She is the reason anyone has a usable account of the Hero of the Imperium, and the reason large pieces of it are still blacked out.

She pulled Cain into her retinue more than once, kept Jurgen's gift from becoming a circular, and treated the commissar's luck as a resource the Ordo could point at a problem. The footnotes are not decoration. They are the Inquisition doing damage control in public.

Whether she is still active is, as she would write, [REDACTED]. Cain would call that typical.
