Defence of Avalus
The Defence of Avalus was the action in which Lion El’Jonson secured Avalus as the centre of the Lion’s Protectorate in M42. After liberating Camarth, the Lion Forestwalked with his growing force of Risen and Imperial auxiliaries into Avalus’s jungles and proclaimed the world under his protection. The declaration drew the Ten Thousand Eyes warband. The Lion and his followers defeated the Chaos assault, then used Avalus’s astropaths to broadcast news of the Protectorate across Imperium Nihilus. Avalus became the administrative and symbolic centre of the Lion’s growing dominion, while Camarth remained the first liberated world and Sable another named member of the Protectorate. The defence belongs to the Son of the Forest period of the Lion’s return, before the Arks of Omen climax at Idolatros, and marks the shift from a single rescued world to an announced regional protectorate under a returned primarch.
