Distaff founding on Messina

Alizebeth Bequin founded the Distaff, a school, on Messina before Pontius Glaw’s hirelings burned its premises. The event marks the origin of the Distaff and its sword-work, which the school’s later history preserved. Angharad Esw Sweydyr, whose family line descended from the Distaff, later carried that sword-work into Ravenor’s band. The school’s premises on Messina were destroyed in the burning of the flat, but its methods survived through her line. The founding was intended as a school and as a means of protection rather than as a public undertaking. Messina remained the Distaff’s address until the massacre emptied it.
