Fall of Malodrax
The Fall of Malodrax was fought in 971.M41 as the closing battle of the Crusade of Thunder. Most of the Imperial Fists, led by the Phalanx under newly appointed Chapter Master Vorn Hagen, attacked Warsmith Shon’tu’s Sons of the Forge and Ork allies on and above Malodrax. Ultramarines and Blood Angels forces under Captain Erasmus Tycho also took part. Sergeant Tor Garadon boarded Shon’tu’s war barque Tamunash; First Captain Darnath Lysander later teleported in with 1st Company Terminators, forced Shon’tu to flee, and rescued the wounded Garadon as the vessel collapsed. With the Tamunash destroyed, the Phalanx moved over Malodrax and enacted Exterminatus, destroying the world. Captain Cato Sicarius of the Ultramarines, who with Tycho had agreed to Lysander’s request to help bring Shon’tu to justice, arrived aboard the strike cruiser Valin’s Revenge. During the void battle his Ultramarines boarded the Tamunash alongside the Blood Angels, captured a docking bay, disabled one quadrant’s weapons systems and sabotaged the vessel’s conveyors to isolate its defenders before withdrawing, and the loss of those weapons helped turn the battle.
