Hagia campaign of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade
The Hagia campaign of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade was the struggle for the shrine world of Hagia, birthplace of Saint Sabbat, during the later crusade. It centred on Hagia’s principal religious institutions: the Doctrinopolis and the Shrinehold associated with the saint. Hagia is a feudal shrine world in the Sabbat cluster, and the site where Saint Sabbat’s remains were kept. In the course of the later crusade, Infardi cultists seized the Doctrinopolis. Imperial Guard forces subsequently recaptured it. In the same campaign, a relic housed in the saint’s Shrinehold defeated a Chaos fleet in orbit around the planet. Saint Sabbat’s original crusade, conducted in the thirty-fifth millennium (M35), began in the hills of Hagia. The later contest for the shrine therefore concerned the world from which the saint’s campaign first proceeded, and this origin gives the engagement its continuing significance.
