Hexarchy Coup

The Hexarchy Coup was an attempt by former and sitting High Lords of Terra, backed by Chapter Master Asterion Moloc of the Minotaurs, to reverse Roboute Guilliman’s reforms and recall him from the Indomitus Crusade after the opening of the Great Rift. It followed cult uprisings on Terra in the wake of the Sack of the Lion’s Gate and the Fall of Cadia. Captain Tor Garadon had brought the Phalanx back to Terra and, working with the Custodian Valerian, struck at cult leaders in districts such as the Xatasa sub-sector, the Basilica of the Agony, and Artaxerxia. Relations with the Minotaurs collapsed as that Chapter destroyed evidence and killed Imperial Fists investigators. When the Hexarchy revealed itself by hololith and demanded Guilliman’s return, Garadon named them traitors. Chancellor Jek later lowered the shields of the lead traitor Navy ship so that Garadon and nine Imperial Fists in Terminator armour could board and secure it while the Phalanx moved against traitor vessels in orbit. The coup was put down without yielding to the conspirators’ terms. Asterion Moloc arrived on Terra with the Minotaurs in Chapter strength, including the heavy assault carrier Daedelos Krata. He proclaimed that the Chapter had escaped a Death Guard assault on its gene-seed, though his presence also served the Hexarchy’s designs. He directed the Minotaurs’ campaign against cultists remaining after the daemonic incursion, and his scorched-earth methods brought him into conflict with Tor Garadon, Trajann Valoris, and Violeta Roskavler. When the coup collapsed after Fadix’s betrayal and a Custodes and Imperial Fists counter-attack, Moloc prepared the Chapter to fight on. Violeta Roskavler, then the sole claimant to the office of Master of the Administratum after Irthu Haemotalion’s death, confronted him and whispered something unrecorded; Moloc promptly withdrew the Minotaurs from Terra.
