Invasion of 56-Izar

The Invasion of 56-Izar was an Inquisitorial assault on the Saruthi world designated 56-Izar in 240.M41, mounted to destroy a xenos copy of the Necroteuch and the means of reading it. The operation followed the burning of an earlier Necroteuch at KCX-1288 and the auto-seance on Gudrun that revealed the Saruthi had retained a second text. Imperial forces, with Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn among those present on the ground, struck the alien holdings before the book could be secured by rival claimants within the Ordos. During the fighting Konrad Molitor, a radical already compromised by his pursuit of the Necroteuch, attempted to seize the tome and the translator and to kill Eisenhorn. The attempt failed. It was on 56-Izar that Eisenhorn first encountered the daemonhost Cherubael, then bound in service to Molitor’s circle, a meeting that would shape much of his later career. The Saruthi Necroteuch and its translator were destroyed. The remaining members of the Glaw cabal who had sought the text were eliminated or scattered. 56-Izar was afterwards subjected to Exterminatus, leaving a dead world whose sole lasting Imperial note is the day the second Necroteuch burned and Cherubael entered Eisenhorn’s history.
