Killing Ground on Salinas
The Killing Ground on Salinas followed Uriel Ventris’s and Pasanius Lysane’s escape from Medrengard, when a daemon engine cast them and the Unfleshed onto that Paragonus sub-sector world. Salinas had already been scarred by the Khaturian Massacre under Governor Leto Barbaden of the Achaman Falcatas. The thin veil before the Warp let the spirits of the massacred seize the Unfleshed and turn on the Imperial garrison. Grey Knights arrived, took Ventris and Pasanius into custody, and tried their loyalty to the Emperor. After the trials the Knights ended the disturbance, allowed the dead their revenge on Barbaden, and returned the two Ultramarines to Macragge. The episode closed Ventris’s Death Oath exile and set the terms on which the Chapter would judge his reinstatement.
