Liberation of Amadis

The Liberation of Amadis was the final, and only recorded, battle fought to free the world of Amadis from Chaos cultists. No date more precise than a broad late Imperial setting is recorded, and Amadis itself remains unplaced within the wider galaxy. No account survives of any earlier stage of the liberation; the campaign is known to history solely through its climactic engagement. By the time of that battle, the defenders of Amadis were being driven towards collapse by sustained cultist artillery bombardment and repeated human-wave assaults. As the line threatened to break, the defenders were rallied by a solitary, hooded warrior remembered in later retellings as Cypher, whose intervention turned the battle back in the defenders’ favour. Among the troopers who fought there was Regan Antigone, the sole survivor of the Procell 1st Irregulars, who afterwards swore never to disclose the stranger’s identity and instead accepted the credit for the rally himself.
