Monthax engagement

The Monthax engagement was an early large-scale battle of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, fought in dense jungle terrain on the world of Monthax. It is counted among the early campaigns undertaken by the Tanith First-and-Only regiment, popularly known as Gaunt’s Ghosts, in the opening years of their service to the Crusade. The fighting was shaped throughout by the character of the terrain, a near-continuous forest canopy that limited visibility, hampered armoured support, and forced much of the campaign into close infantry actions between entrenched defenders and advancing Imperial troops.
