Monthax

Monthax is a jungle in the Newfound Trailing of the Sabbat Worlds, where Imperial forces fought Chaos while Eldar sought to seal a webway gate. The location is sparsely inhabited, and it is recorded chiefly as a site of military operations.

The Departmento Munitorum, the Imperial body responsible for the administration and supply of its armies, treated Monthax as a battlefield rather than a prize to be secured. The Ghosts, the Volpone Bluebloods and the Roane Deepers fought Chaos forces there. During the same campaign a small Eldar host operated among the trees, attempting to seal a webway gate, one of the passages of the Eldar’s hidden transit network.

Official Imperial histories of the campaign later omitted the Eldar presence. Monthax is therefore notable less as a strategic holding than as an example of a xenos episode absent from the authorised account of the fighting.
