Perturabo at Sarum

Perturabo at Sarum denotes the visit of the Iron Warriors’ primarch to the Dark Mechanicum forge world of Sarum in the later Horus Heresy, during his search for Angron. Sarum, a barren world close to the Maelstrom, had served the World Eaters as a forward base during the Great Crusade, declared for Horus at the outbreak of the Heresy, and supplied Angron’s Legion with arms throughout the war. Ordered by Horus, through the emissary Argonis, to find Angron and bring the World Eaters to the muster at Ullanor, Perturabo left much of his Legion holding the defensive line against the advancing Ultramarines and set out with a small fleet. He found Sarum corrupted, its orbit encrusted with a shell of debris and its Crimson Priests become slaves of Chaos, their heads replaced by the skulls of beasts. At the planet’s heart lay a bound daemon of Khorne, Sa’ra’am, which revealed that Angron was on the world of Deluge. The daemon then possessed the Iron Warrior Volk, an act recorded as the creation of the first Obliterator. Perturabo went on from Sarum to Deluge, where he confronted Angron.
