Purge of the Trysst Dynasty

The Purge of the Trysst Dynasty was the campaign that exposed and destroyed the Genestealer Cult of the Four-Armed Emperor on the mining world Ghosar Quintus, in the Ghosarian System of the Doctrex Sector, Ultima Segmentum. It was the first major Imperial encounter with a Genestealer Cult. The Trysst Dynasty had ruled Ghosar Quintus for several centuries. Its Patriarch had reached the planet on a fragment of the space hulk Curse of Unreason that fell on the world at the beginning of M40. In 680.M41 Inquisitor Chaegryn led Tempestus Scions into the Great Pit to investigate an apparent perversion of the Imperial Creed; his last communiqué reported that all was well and that the dynasty should be left to its own devices. A year passed before his fellows realised that something was wrong. A five-man Deathwatch kill team, Kill Team Excis, followed and was lost in its first ambush. Chaplain Ortan Cassius of the Ultramarines, then serving with the Deathwatch, mustered a hand-picked kill team of eleven Space Marines drawn from ten Chapters. Kill Team Cassius fought through hundreds of cultists in the depths of the Great Pit, and Cassius himself slew the Patriarch. The dynasty was purged, but its shipping holographs revealed that, under the guise of industry, the Trysst had spread the cult across the Ghosar System and throughout the sector.
