Sanctuary 101 massacre

The Sanctuary 101 massacre was the destruction of the Adepta Sororitas fortress-convent of Sanctuary 101 in 897.M41, on the barren world of the same name in the Vidar Sector of Ultima Segmentum. It is recorded as the Imperium’s first open contact with the Necrons. Sautekh Dynasty forces under Phaeron Imotekh the Stormlord attacked the convent of the Order of Our Martyred Lady. Despite the Sisters’ defence and their attempts to preserve records of the new enemy, all within were killed and flayed. A servo-skull, I-Theta-One, recorded picts of the fighting that showed only flickering shadows cutting the Sisters down. Inquisitors who later viewed the recordings grasped the scale of the threat; Inquisitor Hoth removed the bodies for analysis. Twelve years later Canoness Sepherina returned to reconsecrate the site, and further Necron assaults followed in later centuries. The massacre of 897.M41 remains the engagement that first fixed Sanctuary 101, Imotekh and the Sautekh Dynasty in Imperial awareness of the Necron race.
