Skull Harvest
The Skull Harvest is a tournament held on New Badab under the presidency of Huron Blackheart, master of the Red Corsairs and ruler of the planet. Alien mercenaries and Chaos warbands gather for it, and their leaders or champions fight to the death until three remain, who then fight one another in the Arena of Thorns until one triumphs; whoever slays the leader of a warband may claim it. The skulls of the defeated are presented to Huron and adorn the spikes before his throne, and the victor takes command of the gathered warbands together with Huron’s recognition and a temporary honour fleet. In or around 999.M41 the Iron Warriors Warsmith Honsou won the Harvest, beheading the Khornate warlord Pashtoq Uluvent after Cadaras Grendel betrayed him, and left New Badab with almost seventeen thousand warriors and several Red Corsairs warships for his war against Ultramar. Before Honsou departed, Huron advised him to kill his champions once they ceased to be useful, reminding him that the strong are strongest alone.
