Operation Newfound sent General Jater Elbeth at Fornax Aleph in 757.M41 and found the hives already empty of every living soul. Half-eaten meals and unfinished letters sat where people had been. Elbeth fortified, reported the fearful absence to Slaydo, then vanished with his whole force on the first day of 758. Iron Snakes arrived to empty streets, a Vitrian tank eighty storeys up, and later a polar meteor that spat a daemon horde. Three hundred Snakes held until early 759 and won. Recolonisation filled the empty hives; night screams never fully stopped.
