Voltoris ambush after Mu’gulath Bay

The Voltoris ambush after Mu’gulath Bay, also called the Battle of Voltoris, was fought in 999.M41 on the feudal world of Voltoris, and ended in an Imperial victory. After their defeat at Mu’gulath Bay, Imperial commanders staged a deliberately slow retreat towards Voltoris in order to draw Commander Shadowsun’s pursuing fleet into an ambush, which they prepared around the fortress of Furion Peak. Overconfident in their orbital scans, the T’au did not detect the presence of Colonel Straken’s Catachan Jungle Fighters, Kor’sarro Khan’s White Scars, and the Raven Guard of Shadow Captain Shrike; the White Scars Stormseer Sudabeh, a Stormseer being a White Scars psyker, cast a psychic mist over their positions to conceal them further. When Shadowsun’s army made planetfall at the foot of Furion Peak, the trap closed. The Stormseers led a close-range charge; Shadowsun hunted down and killed Sudabeh, but scores of Imperial Knights then arrived and destroyed the T’au army along the forest road. Many of her most trusted teams gave their lives to secure her escape, and she vowed to redouble her efforts in the Third Sphere of Expansion, a resolve that led directly to the Prefectia Campaign. Kor’sarro Khan helped to plan the ambush, which followed the blood oath he had sworn at Mu’gulath Bay to take Shadowsun’s head. She escaped him at Voltoris, and he renewed his pledge to kill her during the Prefectia Campaign.
