Armageddon System

The Armageddon System is a hive-industrial star system in Segmentum Solar, whose principal world, Armageddon, is associated with large-scale land warfare. It lies in the Armageddon Sub-sector of the Armageddon Sector, inward of Cadia and close to Terra, and this proximity to the Imperial capital shapes the scale of the reinforcements committed to its defence.

Angron’s First War, Ghazghkull’s later Waaaghs (Ork invasions) and the Season of Blood have each drawn large forces into the system, whose ash wastes, orbital docks and neighbouring worlds such as Pelucidar and Chosin have all served as theatres of operation. Steel Legion regiments continue to fight from sealed armoured vehicles, and orbital stations named for Yarrick and Mannheim lie above the same world. Some later accounts hold that the hive world is Ullanor, relocated after the War of the Beast.

Whatever its origin, the system remains a principal theatre of attritional warfare in Segmentum Solar rather than a peripheral holding. The Imperium regards a cluster of hive worlds so near Terra as impossible to abandon, and it has therefore continued to commit fleets to the system over successive conflicts.
