Corythos System

The Corythos System is a star system in the Segmentum Tempestus whose principal world, Cretacia, is the death-world home of the Flesh Tearers Chapter. A death-world is a planet whose environment is exceptionally hostile to human life. The Flesh Tearers have held Cretacia as their home after millennia of crusading.

Cretacia is a jungle world of cloud-wrapped swamps, which shelter reptiles comparable in size to scout Titans. The Chapter, then under the command of Nassir Amit, settled there because the planet could satisfy its need to hunt. Feral humans hardy enough to be recruited inhabit the same terrain as insects capable of penetrating power armour.

The Corythos System remains significant as the only home the Flesh Tearers acknowledge. Unofficial star charts place the system within its parent Segmentum Tempestus and distinguish Cretacia from a moon associated with the Blood Angels.
