Espandor System

The Espandor System is a forested cardinal star system on the eastern march of Ultramar, within the Ultramar Sub-sector. Espandor is its cardinal world. The system lies on the side of the sub-sector that faces threats approaching from the Eastern Fringe, and it once supplied the sub-sector from the Boreaus agri-sprawl.

The World Eaters attacked the system during the Horus Heresy. Remnant Tyranid forces, later columns of the Plague Wars, and pirates from the Eastern Fringe have since used its worlds as a route of passage. Roboute Guilliman’s restored Tetrarchy of Ultramar continues to count Espandor among its inner names, even when the system’s forests are burning.

The Espandor System retains its standing as the eastern approach to Ultramar rather than a quiet shrine world. Unofficial fan maps keep the Ultramar Sub-sector as its parent and do not reassign it to a generic Ultima diocese.
