Fenris System

The Fenris System is the home star system of the Space Wolves, situated in the Svarteldari Sub-sector and centred on the ocean world of Fenris. It also comprises ice worlds, death moons, and stations named after wolves. The Fang, the fortress on Asaheim, is the installation by which the Chapter is known elsewhere in the galaxy.

The sea of Fenris submerges islands with each season. Other worlds of the system, including Midgardia, Frostheim, Svellgard, and Valdrmani, have absorbed attacks that were directed at the Fang. Magnus and the Thousand Sons have on more than one occasion chosen to assault the system rather than confront Leman Russ in open space, and void hulks remaining in the outer reaches are the residue of those raids. The stations of Gormenjarl and Mjalnar monitor the same approaches from which the Rout launches its own hunts.

The system retains its standing because the Space Wolves will not base themselves elsewhere. A death-world sun and a small number of frozen worlds offer limited returns when set against a forge-fortress, yet they remain the only home that the Vlka Fenryka, as the Space Wolves style themselves, will acknowledge.
