Hubris System

The Hubris System is a Helican system named for colonists who remained after a seventy-year cryogenic voyage placed them on an elliptical orbit. It is described as an ice-trap well. For eleven months out of twenty-nine, the settlers freeze as the Dormant, while about one per cent stay active to keep the Sun Dome running until the Thaw.

Eisenhorn killed Murdin Eyclone in the system. Eyclone had been attempting to resurrect Pontius Glaw by murdering sleepers in the cryotombs. Hubris II is recorded as a minor companion location.

The Hubris System remains notable chiefly as an entry point to the Eisenhorn narrative, rather than as a tithe fortress. Unofficial summaries continue to place it under the Helican parent.
