Hydra Cordatus System

The Hydra Cordatus System is a forge-world system in the Sentinel Sector, adjacent to the Eye of Terror, that stored Imperial Fists gene-seed. Gene-seed is the genetic material from which Space Marines are created, and few installations held the Imperial Fists’ stock. The system’s principal world, Hydra Cordatus, contains the Cadmean Citadel, and the worlds Hydra Minoris and Hydra-Xylen lie within the same system.

Perturabo, primarch of the Iron Warriors, breached the citadel during the Horus Heresy. A later Iron Warriors warband returned in the events of Storm of Iron, renewing the assault and seizing the gene-seed that remained in the vaults. The system is distinct from Hydraphur, from any Pacificus fleet capital, and from other locations that merely share the Hydra name.

The system remains significant as a repository of Imperial Fists gene-seed on a vulnerable frontier, and as a site where that material was lost without recovery. Unofficial fan summaries retain the Sentinel Sector as its parent region and distinguish it explicitly from the hydraphur-system.
