Iax System

The Iax System is a star system in the Ultramar Sub-sector, formerly a fertile agricultural region comparable to Macragge and Konor. By the end of the Great Crusade, it ranked among the garden worlds of Ultramar, and it contained an agri-world, a planet given over to food production.

The system remained part of the Ultramar Sub-sector until Mortarion’s Plague Wars ended its status as a garden. Ku’gath’s daemons and the corruption spread by the Death Guard turned the system from a source of food into a ruined one. No second agri-world exists within the charted system to replace its output, so Ultramar had to draw its food from elsewhere.

Later Tetrarchy maps still name the Iax System, since its loss remains a matter of political record. It serves as evidence that the prosperity of Ultramar was never assured. Unofficial fan maps retain the Ultramar Sub-sector as the system’s parent location and record no recovery of the garden.
