Ichar IV

Ichar IV is a hive and industrial world north of Ultramar that exported ore and myco-protein before a Genestealer cult seized it. The cult, which called itself the Brotherhood, took control of the planet through an insurrection.

Marneus Calgar suppressed the Brotherhood’s rising. He returned in 992.M41, when Hive Fleet Kraken, a Tyranid swarm, and a brood that had remained concealed on the planet overwhelmed its hives. In a second confrontation, Calgar killed the Swarmlord, a Tyranid commander.

The fighting left Ichar IV devastated. The Scythes of the Emperor, a Space Marine chapter that had fought in the defence of the world, lost the greater part of its strength. The campaign is recorded chiefly as a case in which a Genestealer infestation, once suppressed, contributed to a later and far larger Tyranid assault.
