Ichar System

The Ichar System is a hive-and-industrial star system north of Ultramar, centred on its principal world, Ichar IV. That world exported ore and myco-protein until a Genestealer cult called the Brotherhood seized it.

Ichar IV is the only world of note within the charted system. Marneus Calgar suppressed the Brotherhood’s rising, and Hive Fleet Kraken later made the same world the scene of a full Tyranid war. The sequence of cult followed by invasion illustrates that a productive hive on the Eastern Fringe draws hostile attention. The system lies close enough to Ultramar that later accounts treat it as a neighbouring conflict rather than a remote one.

The Ichar System remains a reference point of the Tyrannic War and records a victory by Calgar that did not endure. Unofficial fan summaries retain the Ultima parent designation and do not place Ichar within the Ultramar subsector.
