Khthonic Gate

The Khthonic Gate is a Dark Age warp-door on Pluto, twin of the Elysian Gate, that admits traffic into Sol without a conventional translation. Translation is the passage of a vessel between the warp and real space. Like the Elysian Gate, the Khthonic Gate therefore allows ships to arrive inside the Solar System without first crossing it by ordinary means.

Sigismund’s First Sphere fought at the gate on two occasions. The first engagement followed Alpharius’s strike on Pluto. The second took place when the Warmaster’s armada arrived and Horus Aximand’s Sons of Horus attacked the position.

The gate’s importance lay in its function as an approach to the inner Solar System. Its fall opened the road to Terra.
