Konor

Konor is the forge and shipyard world of Ultramar, one of its four tetrarchies, named for the Macragge nobleman who adopted Roboute Guilliman. A Tetrarch governs the world directly on Guilliman’s behalf, giving Konor a standing few forge worlds elsewhere in the Imperium hold: its foundries answer to a planetary authority in Macragge as much as to any wider administration of manufacture.

For much of its history the Adeptus Mechanicus declined to recognise Konor as a true forge world of the Cult Mechanicus, since its shipyards and manufactoria took orders first from Macragge rather than from Mars. That friction set Konor apart from the Imperium’s other great industrial worlds, binding it instead into Ultramar’s own chain of command alongside the region’s remaining tetrarchies.

When the Word Bearers turned upon Calth in 007.M31, opening the Horus Heresy in Ultramar with treachery and ambush, Konor hesitated before committing its shipyards and defenders to the wider mobilisation, a moment of uncertainty later set against the steadier record of its loyalty through the rest of the war. Its foundries continued to arm the Ultramarines as Roboute Guilliman held Ultramar together against the fracturing Imperium.

Millennia later, after the opening of the Great Rift, Konor again stood in an invader’s path when Mortarion led the Death Guard against Ultramar’s northern reaches. Where Iax and other holdings fell to the primarch’s plague fleets, Konor’s garrison and Tetrarch held their ground, preserving an industrial base that fed the reconstruction Guilliman oversaw on his return to Macragge.

Konor now serves as the administrative seat of northern Ultramar, its Tetrarch answerable to Macragge for governance as well as output. That combined civil and industrial authority distinguishes Konor from forge worlds elsewhere in the Imperium, which typically defer to the Adeptus Mechanicus alone rather than to a planetary government of their own.
