Malfian Subsector

The Malfian Sub-sector is a rimward division of the Calixis Sector, notable for its political intrigue and the hive-world Malfi. It appears chiefly as a setting in the Dark Heresy role-playing game, not in accounts of the Great Crusade.

Malfi, Landunder, Vaxanide, Dusk and a large number of lodge-worlds lie within the sub-sector. Malfi has a population of twenty-three billion but did not become the capital of the Calixis Sector. That distinction went to Scintilla, although Angevin commanders established their headquarters in the Malfian Sub-sector. Its politics are characterised by pervasive intrigue among competing interests.

The Malfian Sub-sector remains significant as the sector’s second centre of power, one that rivalled the capital in scale without taking its title. Unofficial summaries generally place it under the Calixis Sector and treat Malfi as belonging to the Malfian system.
