Periremunda System

The Periremunda System, catalogued under Ultima, has a principal world of eighteen thousand habitable mesas rising above volcanic lowlands. The mesas provide the only habitable terrain on that world. The Ultima placement is unofficial and reflects the classification used by this site.

The system is chiefly known as the setting of an episode in the career of Commissar Ciaphas Cain. Cain and the 597th landed on the principal world to deal with an uprising that had been reported as a simple matter. They instead found a genestealer presence, a Tyranid fleet approaching the system, and Amberley Vail already present on the ground.

The system is not a hive cluster, and it does not hold the strategic standing of Tarsis Ultra. Its importance rests on the narrow margin by which its population avoided being consumed by the Tyranid fleet, after the world that Cain visited proved to harbour a cult. No Imperial Guard homeworld cult is attributed to the system, and summaries retain the Ultima parent designation.
