Periremunda

Periremunda is a plateau world of eighteen thousand habitable mesas above volcanic lowlands. Its settled terrain consists of these elevated mesas, while the surrounding lowlands are volcanic. The 40k Orrery places the world in Segmentum Ultima; that position is unofficial.

Ciaphas Cain and the 597th landed on Periremunda to deal with an uprising that had been described as simple. On arrival they found Genestealers, a Tyranid form, present on the world. A Tyranid fleet was approaching, and Amberley Vail was already on the ground.

The world is chiefly recorded as the location where a routine suppression operation met a far larger threat than its planners had assumed. The combination of an uprising, Genestealer activity, an inbound Tyranid fleet and Vail’s prior presence gives Periremunda its standing among the locations in Cain’s campaigns.
