Tanakreg

Tanakreg is an Imperial world in the Ghost Stars, devastated by the Word Bearers in the novel Dark Apostle during a conflict over a Necron tomb. The entry refers to the world as it appears in Reynolds’s novel, and not to any other Word Bearers site.

In the novel, the Word Bearers Host raised a geothermic cathedral on the planet and awakened the Necron tomb, a dormant complex of the ancient xenos race. The fighting also concerned a dark catechism, a formal body of religious doctrine in the service of Chaos. Jarulek’s schemes and Marduk’s contest for succession within the Host made Tanakreg the site of these rites. The planet was left ruined, and later star charts continue to record it.

Tanakreg remains significant as the principal battlefield of Dark Apostle. Unofficial summaries retain the Ghost Stars as its parent region and treat it as distinct from Sicarus, from Boros Prime, and from any general Word Bearers recruiting world.
