Battle of Piscina IV

The Battle of Piscina IV was fought on the mining world Piscina IV, in the Piscina System of Segmentum Obscurus, about 6,000 light years east of the Eye of Terror. The battle is dated 997.M41, and is also described as part of the Third War for Armageddon, which is dated from 998.M41. The world is further described as a staging ground that Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka used before the Third War. That is a description of when this campaign fell, not a separate battle. Ork forces on Piscina IV fought under the command of Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka and Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub. A tellyporta (an Ork teleport device) brought further Orks to the world from off-planet, under their direction. The Dark Angels opposed the Orks on Piscina IV. Koth Ridge was a principal site of the fighting. Interrogator-Chaplain Boreas and Veteran Sergeant Naaman were among the Dark Angels engaged. Naaman and his Scout Company held their position long enough for the Deathwing to disable the energy relays and destroy the tellyportas. Naaman was killed. The Dark Angels 3rd Company, under Master Belial, who later became Grand Master of the Deathwing, then held the defences while the rest of the Chapter was still to arrive. The Orks were defeated, and the battle is recorded as an Imperial victory. Ghazghkull was pleased that the tellyportas had worked, and he intended to use the same method later against the defences of Armageddon. A Warlord Titan was lost during the battle. One account says the Harbingers Chapter helped to save the planet, and another says reports of the Harbingers fighting there are uncorroborated. The battle’s listed commanders are Master Belial and Interrogator-Chaplain Boreas. Azrael, already Supreme Grand Master, received Belial’s astropathic warning, sent by the Librarian Charon, and redirected the Dark Angels fleet from the system jump point back to Piscina IV. On arrival he spoke with Charon and then with Belial. He said Belial had led the defence well, and that it had taken strength to call for help.
