Davin Conclave
The Davin Conclave was the assembly on Davin, in the prelude to the Horus Heresy. It followed the Sons of Horus’ campaign on Davin and its moon, where Horus was gravely injured by a ritual blade. He was carried to a temple on the world below, where the Word Bearers’ Erebus and the Lodge’s adherents had prepared the ground. The Lodge is recorded as a secret fellowship within the Legions that looked to the Warp for power, and accounts differ on how many of its members were present. During Horus’s convalescence, the Lodge’s members and the Warmaster’s closest officers, the Mournival of Ezekyle Abaddon, Tarik Torgaddon, Horus Aximand and Garviel Loken, were drawn into a series of counsels around him. Erebus and the Lodge presented the Warp’s power as a means of healing and, later tradition holds, as an answer to Horus’s doubts about the Emperor’s designs for the Imperium. Loken, who had reservations about the Lodge’s methods, was kept apart from its deeper workings. Horus emerged from the temple changed in purpose, and the Legion’s leadership began to align itself behind him. The conclave is generally placed among the last events of the Great Crusade and immediately before the open break with the Emperor. Its immediate aftermath was the movement of the Sons of Horus and their allies toward Istvaan III, where the Warmaster’s rebellion first became overt. Contemporaries whose Legions were drawn into the same conspiracy, among them the Word Bearers, the Emperor’s Children and the Iron Warriors, appear in the wider chronology of that year. Davin thus serves on the Orrery map as the place where the Heresy’s private conspiracy became a Legion-wide commitment.
