Death Guard claim Eliathada
The Death Guard Claim Eliathada is the Death Guard’s assertion of dominion over Eliathada, a world within the Eye of Terror. The Death Guard, the Traitor Legion raised by the primarch Mortarion and given over to the worship of Nurgle, know Eliathada by two further names: the Plague Planet and Munificence. The world stands as an echo of Barbarus, Mortarion’s homeworld, its high peaks poisonous and its slopes given over to shrines raised in Nurgle’s honour. Seven keeps crown these mountains, one for each of the Death Guard’s plague companies, and the Black Manse spans the three tallest summits in a form recalling Nurgle’s tri-lobed sigil. The available record does not describe the course of the claim itself, nor name the forces or rivals the Death Guard overcame to secure it. Eliathada remains the setting with which the claim is linked, and no further campaign or event is recorded as following from it. Outside observers find its air choking with miasma, while for the Death Guard who hold it, disease is not an affliction but a constant feature of the climate, sustained by the plague companies garrisoned in the seven keeps. Accounts do not state what, if anything, the Death Guard’s claim over the world secured beyond continued possession, and its later status is not otherwise recorded.
