Death of Pontius Glaw
The Death of Pontius Glaw was the final killing of the resurrected heretic Pontius Glaw on the world Ghül, known to Imperial cartography as 5213X, late in the 41st millennium. Glaw had escaped captivity as a crystal intellect, occupied a mechanical body constructed by Magos Geard Bure, and come to Ghül in search of the barque of the daemon-king Yssarile, whose mausoleum underlay the world’s principal ruin. He sought also the Malus Codicium, then in Eisenhorn’s keeping, as the key to that vault. Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn, hunted as an outcast and aided at points by Gideon Ravenor and an Eldar strike force, confronted Glaw in the halls of Yssarile. Outmatched by the mechanical body, Eisenhorn burned pages of the Malus Codicium to break Glaw’s concentration, then drove the force sword Barbarisater through the machine’s head, shattering the crystal that held Glaw’s essence. The heretic’s long career, from the corruption on Quenthus VIII through the Necroteuch bargain and the destruction of Eisenhorn’s Distaff, ended in that stroke. Ghül was subjected to Exterminatus in 392.M41. Eisenhorn’s subsequent standing with the Inquisition remained a matter of speculation rather than of a clean return to favour.
