Drechia mine war

On the Imperial mining world of Drechia, Commissar Ciaphas Cain and the Valhallan 597th were committed against a Chaos uprising when Eldar raiders struck from unexpected axes of advance through the mine works. In those tunnels Cain encountered Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Amberley Vail and her team, who had entered the same galleries by a Webway path rather than by the surface. Vail briefed the regiment and the local Administratum representative on the nature of that ingress: a fragmented Webway branch whose use by her party had, she suspected, first drawn Eldar attention to the route. Perceptions inside the labyrinth were unreliable; without a psyker the team might not have found its way out. The Drechia mine war thus joined a Guard counter-insurgency to an Ordo Xenos Webway operation on the same ground. From Drechia the crisis widened toward the forge world of Ironfound, where munitions vital to the subsector stood at risk.
