First Aurelian Crusade on Calderis
The First Aurelian Crusade on Calderis was the opening phase of the First Aurelian Crusade, fought on the desert world of Calderis in Subsector Aurelia. Calderis is a Korianis feudal desert world and a recruiting ground of the Blood Ravens Chapter. The inhabitants of Calderis live in competing tribes, which contend with the heat of the desert, with feral Orks, and with one another. Davian Thule, leading a small number of battle-brothers, confronted an Ork surge that the Eldar had incited. Tyranids then arrived on the world and poisoned Thule. The same events connect to Gabriel Angelos’s command of the Chapter and to the Force Commander’s first engagements, in which Sergeant Tarkus and Avitus take part. Calderis is not the capital of Subsector Aurelia; that function passed to Meridian after Aurelia vanished. The world is reckoned alongside Meridian, Typhon Primaris, and Aurelia as one of the settings of the subsector, and it stands chiefly as the place where the crusade opened.
